Public activities of a classic of agrarian science A.G. Doyarenko (on the 150th an-niversary of his birth)

The article presents some aspects of the public activities of Alexey Grigoryevich Doyarenko (1874–1958), an outstanding agricultural scientist, whose 150th birthday was celebrated by the scientific community in 2024. It provides a brief analysis of his scientific achievements in the fields of agriculture, soil science, and experimental work. Examples of his most significant publications are provided. The article highlights the most successful areas of his public activities: participation in agricultural congresses, meetings on experimental work, peasant discussions, etc. His role in the publication of the leading agricultural journals of the first quarter of the 20th century, «Vestnik selskogo khozyaistva» and «Nauchnyi agronomicheskii zhurnal», is emphasized. It is concluded that the personality of the editor of a specialized journal is an important component of its stability and success. A.G. Doyarenko's scientific legacy includes more than 400 works, some of which are already available in digital format in the Central Scientific Agricultural Library.
