The Decree of the Supreme Council of the Russian Federation «On the rehabilitation of Russian Koreans» is 30 years old

Abstract

The publication offered to the reader presents not only the Decree of the Supreme Council of the Russian Federation itself, but also discloses the mechanism for its preparation and implementation, the directions determined by it, subordinated exclusively to solving such a complex problem as the rehabilitation of repressed peoples, among which were, against their will, the Russian Koreans of the Far East. Attention is drawn to the characteristics of the fundamental areas of rehabilitation (social, cultural, territorial). The peculiarity of the rehabilitation of Koreans is also revealed, the methods of its implementation are shown. Russian Koreans gradually rehabilitated from the late 1930s, into the 1940s, and beyond. This process, as the conclusion of the author in the article testifies, took a long period. A conclusion is also proposed about the organic nature of the processes of forced resettlement of ethnic communities of the USSR and their gradual rehabilitation.
