Social well-being of the elderly in the context of the implementation of social support of the municipality (on the example of Novosibirsk)

Abstract

This article deals with the actual problem of social well-being of elderly citizens, whose number today is one third of the population of cities. The article reflects the important problem of the correlation between the activities of the departments of social support of the municipality and the level of social well-being of older citizens, which is an indicator of this activity.

The sociological study of the problem presented in the article revealed a fairly large range of factors affecting the assessment of the activities of the social support departments of the municipality by older citizens, as well as factors affecting the activities of the social support departments and reducing their effectiveness, and, accordingly, reducing the level of social satisfaction older citizens, and consequently, the level of their social well-being.

The article also highlights such aspects of the problem under study as the ratio of the triad – the level of needs and claims of older people in social services, the degree of organizational interest of social workers in providing social support to the elderly population and the actual state of the possibility of the material and technical base of municipal social support departments.

The paper presents the results of a standardized interview based on a multi-stage sampling with a systematic selection of participants at the last stage, allowing to assess the degree of social well-being of older citizens, their assessment of the activities of social support departments of the municipality of the city in the context of the implementation of social services.
